FDJ UNITED x Women in Tech Sweden – 10 years of partnership for a more inclusive tech industry

A shared commitment to responsible and inclusive tech

Since 2014, Women in Tech Sweden (WiT) has been working to promote diversity in the technology industry, convinced that innovation performs better when it reflects the diversity of society. What makes WiT Sweden different is where its funding comes from: the tech industry itself, bringing together companies that choose to invest in inclusion not because it is required, but because they believe in it.

For ten consecutive years, FDJ UNITED has been a co-creating partner of Women in Tech. The partnership between FDJ UNITED and Women in Tech Sweden is built on a shared vision of the future of technology, and a mutual commitment to doing the work to get there.

As a co-creating partner, FDJ UNITED contributes to the programme and to discussions on the industry’s evolution.

This year’s theme, “Riding the Tides of Tech: Turning Pressure into Momentum” reflects challenges that closely align with the Group’s operating environment. FDJ UNITED operates in a fast-moving, regulated, multi-market industry, building products for millions of people across Europe and beyond. As a responsible industry leader, the Group requires teams that bring diverse perspectives and the courage to challenge assumptions.

FDJ UNITED shares WiT Sweden’s conviction that a more inclusive tech industry produces better outcomes, for the people building the products and for the people using them.

From partnership to careers: Three stories from within FDJ UNITED

Over the years, the partnership with Women in Tech Sweden has also translated into career paths with FDJ UNITED. Through its presence at WiT Sweden, the Group has connected with talented people who may not have found us through a job advert.

Three of those people, who first engaged with the Group through Women in Tech Sweden, are part of FDJ UNITED’s team today.

Gathoni Mugwe, Senior UX Content Designer – Account & Compliance

“Women in Tech Sweden 2020 led me here. After five years of curiosity, I’m now part of FDJ UNITED.”

“Working in regulated tech completely rewired how I think about design. It is not just about making things intuitive. Sometimes the most responsible thing you can do is add friction on purpose.”

“To me, good design means clarity, trust, and responsibility so that people can make better decisions.”

Jasmine Gronborg, Product Designer in Gaming

“I met the team at Women in Tech Sweden. When I asked about company culture, they spoke with confidence and warmth. Months later, I saw the Product Designer role and remembered that conversation. I reached out.”

“The culture I heard about turned out to be real. Openness, down to earth, human — not corporate or distant. As a junior designer, being given that trust meant everything. I’ve gained colleagues and friends.”

“AI challenged me to rethink how I work and stay adaptable. Instead of resisting it, I’m using it to strengthen my design process. That is what excites me — shaping intuitive, meaningful experiences as technology evolves.”

Catalina Villalonga, Front End Developer, Experimentation

“That impression stayed. Hearing women share their journeys sealed it. This felt like a direction I had already been moving towards.”

“I am trusted with autonomy to explore and take initiative — even in areas new to me. That freedom pushed me far beyond what I thought I was capable of.”

“Discomfort is not a limitation — it is a signal I am learning and growing. Now I approach challenges with curiosity rather than pressure. That shift turned pressure into momentum.”

Sharing expertise at Women in Tech Sweden 2026

This year, on 22 April, FDJ UNITED will contribute to the event by hosting a focus session led by Gathoni Mugwe and Yendi Merdin, our Senior Product Designers : “When pressure is the product: Leading through clarity in regulated, AI-driven systems.”

This talk will explore how to move responsibly within constraints, how to make decisions when the stakes are real, and how pressure, when we learn to read it, becomes direction rather than paralysis.

The session will be live-streamed on the Women in Tech website and will be available for replay after the event.

The Group will be at Women in Tech Sweden on 22 April. Come and meet the team at the stand.

FDJ UNITED supports gender diversity in Tech

Beyond its long‑standing partnership with Women in Tech Sweden, FDJ UNITED is engaged in several initiatives to promote gender diversity across the tech and digital ecosystem:

  • Partnerships with SISTA and Willa to support women in the digital economy and entrepreneurship;
  • Commitment to the Bpifrance Spark Fund alongside major industry players;
  • Initiatives to raise awareness of tech careers among young women, supported by the FDJ UNITED Foundation.
