ENVIRONMENT
FDJ UNITED operates in a world where environmental challenges are increasingly complex. The risks associated with climate change, the erosion of biodiversity and the over-exploitation of natural resources are all major concerns for the Group.
Aware of the impact of our activities, environmental protection is central to our commitments. As a major component of our CSR policy, reducing the Group’s environmental footprint is reflected in concrete actions aimed at:
In addition to these two strategic challenges, we are constantly striving to improve our practices by limiting the use of natural resources and eliminating all forms of waste.
* This policy applies to all the Group’s entities and integrates all the issues in its value chain.
As a leading player in our sector, we are also aware of our responsibility to mobilize our entire ecosystem and set an example. As such, we support international initiatives to preserve the environment, such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), or the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
The Group’s environmental strategy is sponsored by the Deputy CEO, to whom the Sustainability Director, who sits on the executive committee, directly reports on the progress made in implementing the environmental strategy.
Climate
Climate change represents a major global challenge, requiring urgent and ambitious action to limit greenhouse gas emissions. International commitments, such as the Paris Agreement, call for capping global warming at 1.5°C in order to mitigate the associated environmental and social impacts.
Biodiversity
The sustainable management of natural living resources and the conservation of biodiversity are essential to ensure the long-term viability of ecosystems on which both human life and economic activity depend. We recognize the need to adopt sustainable practices in managing natural resources and to actively contribute to ecosystem restoration, by aligning our actions with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the French National Biodiversity Strategy.
resources
The intensive exploitation of natural resources, whether raw materials, packaging, or water, is a major driver of pressure on ecosystems. In response to rising global demand and resource scarcity, a transformation of production and consumption models is necessary.
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations form an international frame of reference for CSR alongside ISO 26000. The SDG targets set for 2030 are designed to meet three broad objectives: eradicate poverty, protect the planet and guarantee prosperity for all.
Drawing on the recommendations of the SDG Compass (1), FDJ UNITED identified the main SDGs to which the Group contributes via its CSR initiatives, in respect of the 169 indicators breaking down the SDGs and the French roadmap set out in the 2030 Agenda.
